This website was begun with a few pages in 2004.  Slowly it has grown into a very expansive site with hundreds of pages.

In the summer of 2009 it was (has been) reconfigured into a new form, because the old system was no longer sufficient. As of August 1, 2009 the old website ceased (will cease) to function. For everything that has not yet been transposed and tested by this date, it will be done in the coming months.

Many people make use of this website. There are about 9,000 visitors per month. That makes the work we have done on the site of great value.

The texts are for the most part from Douwe Tiemersma. The author's name will be displayed only for texts written by other people.

The method of navigation should be self-explanatory.  The main sections can be seen through the menu above the home page.  The systematic organization of chapters is available through the drop down items in the menu list.  Subchapters, when necessary display at the top of their respective page. A few special sections and functions can be reached directly via the menu in the left column. There you can also see the breadcrumbs displaying where you currently are in the site.  By clicking on an item, you go directly to its page.  That is also possible through the 'sitemap'. Finally,  if you are looking for something specific, you can use the search function. Then you will receive a list of all the documents containing your search word.

If you have observation about contents of the site or its functionality, or you would like to submit a corresponding article, we'd be glad to hear from you.  Click here: Contact.
